Name : Ir. Mohd Haizan bin Hashim
Position : Lead Instrument & Control Engineer
Work Experience duration : 24 years (in Oil & Gas industry)
Work Experience Summary :
Mr Haizan graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia (USA) in Electrical Engineering degree in 1986. After coming back to Malaysia , Malaysia was having a worst economic recession at that time. To get a job at that time was not easy ....unless you use cables....BIG BIG cables.
Mr Haizan knows exactly how it feels to be unemployed. He was one of them during that recession time in 1986.
So,how did Mr Haizan change his fate ? Well , he worked from the bottom up. First , he got a job as a door-to-door salesman in KL selling kitchen wares from house to house (direct selling concept).
From this salesman job (odd job), he learnt more about communication techniques with day-to-day normal customers (which university can never teach) .

Sales Engineer (Telecommunication)
Later , Mr Haizan got another job offer as a Telecommunication Sales Engineer in KL. After working for several months as a Sales Engineer, he got another job offer from an oil&gas fabricaton yard company in Pasir Gudang, Johor (ie. at Sime Darby Engineering Fabrication yard). This is the turning point for Mr Haizan working career in Oil & Gas industry.
After serving for almost two years in fabrication yard, he got promoted and was transferred to the design consultant division of Sime Darby in KL called Sime Engineering Sdn Bhd. This was another breakthrough for his career. Later, he was promoted as a Deputy Head for Instrument & Control Department in that consultant office.
However, getting a head department position is not his final goal. He wanted to have good working experience in onshore project environment like oil&gas refineries, petrochemical plants and oversea work assignments. So, he joined Technip Consultant Sdn Bhd ( a French based company at Jalan Tun Razak in KL ).
So, in Technip Malaysia, Mr Haizan was able to achieve the work experiences he wanted. He managed to fulfill his engineering wishlist. He managed to have some work experiences in the following projects :
- Polythene plant (petrochemical) in Kerteh
- assist Technip branch office in Brunei
- assist Technip branch office in Indonesia (Balikpapan)
- upgrading work in Melaka Oil & Gas Refinery (PSR-1&2)
- upgrading work for Carbon Black factory in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.
- (and of course) perform many oil&gas offshore platform designs in KL.
Later he left Technip and he joined back Sime Darby Engineering Sdn Bhd to help his old company to solve their project problem.
Now, Mr Haizan has his own oil&gas design company in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.
He is providing his engineering design services for EPCC contractors and consultants in Malaysia.
Now Mr Haizan has more time which he could use to help Malaysian fresh graduates to get some understanding about basic technical design skills for Oil & Gas industry.
Eventhough he cannot help all graduates but at least he can try his best by helping some of them. That's why he is introducing this course "Rahsia jadi engineer di Oil&Gas Consultant"

Currently , we have abundant of university engineering graduates in Malaysia. The only thing those ex-students lacks are working experience in related Oil & Gas fields. Many companies require fresh graduates to have a minimum two years of working experiences.
Fresh graduates must learn the hard-way to get those work experiences. They must work odd jobs and use their salary to buy these working knowledge via seminars and technical courses. In order to get something , you must sacrifice something ie. your comfort zone , personal time and money. The spoon-feeding time has finished long time ago once these student graduated from their universities.
The rule of the job game is quite simple. If you cannot get a simple low pay odd jobs , you can never get a complicated high pay dream job.
Fresh graduates need to search for THE knowledge and Mentor that can guide you how to become excellence in the world of engineering. Learning doesn't stop after you graduated. Actually, it is the beginning of your working life journey.
So, the decision now lies in your hands. You decide your future. Take the right action now...
